Accounting Lead
About the Role
You will take ownership of month-end close and drive accuracy across revenue, expense, and digital asset accounting. You will maintain the digital asset subledger, prepare accruals and reconciliations, review journal entries, oversee accounts payable and expense workflows, and prepare workpapers for audits and tax filings. You will collaborate with external tax and audit providers, implement and improve SOPs and internal controls, drive automation of systems and processes, and supervise and mentor a Senior Accountant.
Requirements
- At least 4 years of accounting experience
- Mix of public accounting and industry experience preferred
- Strong understanding of accrual accounting, revenue recognition, ASC 606, asset valuations, and GAAP
- Experience owning or heavily contributing to period end close processes
- High proficiency with Google Suite, Xero or other accounting ERP, and modern tools
- Ability to operate in ambiguity with strong ownership and accountability
- Strong analytical skills and exceptional attention to detail
- Excellent communicator with cross-functional partnership experience
Responsibilities
- Own the monthly close process
- Prepare and review accruals, prepaids, reconciliations, and general ledger classifications
- Maintain the digital asset subledger including cost basis, mark-to-market, and realized and unrealized gains and losses
- Ensure proper accounting documentation, standard operating procedures, and internal controls
- Oversee the revenue cycle from billing to collections and maintain revenue recognition schedules
- Review journal entries and collaborate on complex accounting matters
- Oversee accounts payable and expense workflows and review spend analyses for proper GL mapping
- Prepare workpapers for financial audits and tax filings and draft initial tax notice responses
- Maintain nexus tracking and tax filing trackers
- Drive automation improvements in accounting systems and processes
- Supervise and mentor a Senior Accountant
