Analyst, Energy Storage Optimization & Analytics
About the Role
You will execute Virtual Power Plant (VPP) and demand response program participation across the country, developing strategies to drive revenue and optimize asset performance. You will collaborate with engineers to build an internal VPP scheduling platform that integrates revenue stacking, operational constraints, and analytics. You will manage market activities including scheduling, dispatch, pricing, and risk management while ensuring compliance with program requirements and BESS operational targets. You will identify and integrate market and asset data sources, develop forecasting and revenue models, and build risk frameworks to support commercial decision making. You will also develop partnerships with optimization and scheduling platforms and travel to New York City for meetings when required.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Finance, Economics, Engineering, or related field (advanced degree preferred)
- 2+ years of experience in energy market analytics, trading, commercial operations, or asset optimization
- Expertise in power markets, risk management, and regulatory requirements (experience with CAISO, NYISO, PJM, ERCOT is a plus)
- Understanding of state-level programs such as CA DSGS, MA Connected Solutions, MA Clean Peak Standard
- Proven leadership and ability to manage cross-functional efforts with minimal supervision
- Deep knowledge of energy storage optimization, power marketing, revenue forecasting, and market participation strategies
- Strong data analytics and modeling experience to support decision-making and risk analysis
Responsibilities
- Execute VPP and demand response program participation nationwide
- Develop strategies to meet revenue objectives and optimize asset value
- Assist development team in building an internal VPP scheduling platform
- Monitor market trends, regulatory developments, and competitive dynamics
- Oversee scheduling, dispatch, pricing strategies, and risk management
- Manage BESS warranties, degradation targets, and market participation obligations
- Develop partnerships with optimization and scheduling platforms
- Identify and integrate data sources for forecasting, congestion analysis, and revenue modeling
- Maintain expertise in ISO and RTO market structures and energy trading strategies
- Assess asset pipeline and develop a roadmap for revenue optimization
