Director, Cloud Operations
About the Role
You will provide technology leadership and direction for cloud infrastructure, balancing strategic planning with hands-on execution. You will lead and support cloud operations and support teams, build and optimize infrastructure, manage vendors and budgets, implement security monitoring and incident response, drive reliability and process improvements, and actively contribute to troubleshooting and operational work when needed.
Requirements
- BA in Computer Science Engineering or related field or equivalent operational experience
- Minimum 10 years of technical hands on infrastructure and operations experience
- Security certification considered an asset
- 3 to 5 years of experience leading technical teams
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Hands on experience with VMware
- Hands on experience with OpenStack
- Strong DevOps and automation experience
- Proven ability to manage budgets and purchases with discipline and transparency
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and shifting requirements
- Strong analytical problem solving prioritization and organizational skills
- Effective team leadership skills including coaching delegation and direct contribution
Responsibilities
- Lead build and support the Cloud Operations and Support teams
- Develop and execute a scalable cloud infrastructure and operations strategy
- Own cloud infrastructure budgeting and vendor strategy
- Perform hands on implementation troubleshooting and optimization of cloud systems
- Serve as a subject matter expert in infrastructure and operations
- Deliver continuous process improvements and ensure system reliability and KPI performance
- Manage third party relationships contracts and service delivery
- Implement enforce and review security best practices across cloud operations
- Establish maintain and act on security monitoring logging and incident response
- Ensure vulnerability assessments and penetration testing are completed and remediated
- Coordinate security audits assessments and close gaps
- Continuously update security policies and operational practices
