Director, Energy Origination
About the Role
You will manage data center development opportunities across the United States. You will conduct project due diligence, secure site control, navigate interconnection queues (PJM, MISO, ERCOT, SPP, WECC and the Southeast), negotiate commercial terms, prepare transaction approval materials, and represent projects at public hearings. You will lead cross-functional coordination with engineering, legal, and finance, assess risks and regulatory requirements, and travel frequently to advance project approvals and commercial milestones.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Environmental Science Business or related field
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in energy origination or development
- Experience with data center development is a plus
- Strong financial acumen and experience with executive-level presentations
- Proven negotiation skills for commercial contracts and offtake agreements
- Experience conducting due diligence risk assessment and regulatory analysis
- Exceptional interpersonal communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail and ability to manage competing priorities
- Willingness to travel frequently
Responsibilities
- Generate develop and execute a pipeline of competitive data center development sites
- Oversee the full development lifecycle including site selection permitting interconnection and commercial offtake negotiations
- Secure site control and manage interconnection queue positions
- Negotiate commercial terms with customers partners suppliers and service providers
- Conduct project due diligence risk assessments and business impact analyses
- Manage development budgets and financial drivers to create investment opportunities
- Provide direction to internal teams including engineering legal and finance
- Prepare and present transaction approval documentation for senior management
- Represent the company at public hearings industry forums and stakeholder meetings
- Build coalitions with industry partners to address legislative and regulatory challenges
