Director of Government Relations & Policy, EMEA

About the Role

You will lead and implement government affairs and public policy strategies for the EMEA region. You will cultivate and maintain relationships with government officials, trade associations, and industry partners to advocate responsible digital identity solutions. You will coordinate advocacy efforts with legal, communications, and operational teams, support country-level initiatives, and keep senior leadership informed about political and regulatory developments. You will manage external consultants and partners, oversee outreach to regional digital governance organizations, and travel internationally as required.

Requirements

  • 10+ years experience in policy settings within government, corporations, consultancies, or trade associations
  • Proven track record in public affairs and public policy development
  • Experience in stakeholder identification, outreach, and engagement
  • Strong commercial awareness, resilience, cultural understanding, and diplomacy
  • Ability to translate complex digital concepts into clear policy recommendations
  • Proven ability to manage multiple policy initiatives across diverse markets
  • Global mindset with cultural sensitivity
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to travel internationally (~25%)
  • Nice to have: deep understanding of digital identity and data privacy
  • Nice to have: established relationships with government officials and digital policy stakeholders
  • Nice to have: knowledge of public affairs, media landscapes, and digital/social media strategies across geographies

Responsibilities

  • Report to the Chief Business Officer
  • Develop and implement government affairs strategy
  • Ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and corporate compliance principles in each market
  • Cultivate relationships with government officials to advocate responsible digital identity solutions
  • Oversee government and consultancy relationships in key markets
  • Engage with trade associations, industry partners, and non-profit allies
  • Lead outreach to national and regional digital governance organizations
  • Coordinate advocacy priorities with Legal, Communications, and internal teams
  • Collaborate on policy positions, stakeholder mapping, and advocacy action plans
  • Support and drive country-level advocacy initiatives
  • Inform senior executives about political and digital policy developments
  • Travel internationally as required
