Facility Maintenance Specialist

About the Role

In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the operational integrity and safety of our plant facilities, equipment, and systems. You will diagnose and resolve electrical issues, such as tripping PDU breakers and faulty components, using lockout/tagout procedures. You will also identify and address structural issues with buildings, like bent door frames and disconnected siding. Your duties will include inspecting and replacing damaged equipment components on heavy machinery, telehandlers, and skid steers. You will conduct regular preventative maintenance to minimize downtime, interpret equipment error codes, and perform timely air filter replacements. You will also manage inventory for tools and PPE, keep work areas organized, and document all maintenance activities. A key part of your role will be to adhere to OSHA safety regulations, identify potential hazards, and ensure a safe working environment.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in maintenance, repair, or a related technical field.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot electrical and structural issues.
  • Familiarity with heavy equipment (e.g., scissor lifts, telehandlers, skid steers) and ability to replace components.
  • Ability to read and interpret error codes and technical documentation.
  • Basic computer skills, including proficiency in Excel; familiarity with SharePoint is a plus.
  • Knowledge of OSHA safety standards and lockout/tagout procedures.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, with strong communication skills for reporting to leads and managers.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and resolve electrical issues such as tripping PDU breakers, damaged extension cords, or faulty components requiring lockout/tagout procedures; report findings to the appropriate lead or manager.
  • Identify and address structural issues with buildings, including bent door frames and disconnected sheet metal siding; ensure timely reporting and resolution.
  • Inspect and replace damaged equipment components such as wheels on heavy machinery, and attachments on telehandlers and skid steers.
  • Conduct regular preventative maintenance on machines, equipment, and plant facilities to minimize downtime and ensure optimal performance.
  • Interpret error codes on equipment (e.g., scissor lifts) and perform appropriate repairs or escalate as needed.
  • Prioritize timely air filter replacements and similar recurring tasks.
  • Maintain inventory of repair tools, equipment, and personal protective equipment (PPE), including harnesses, drills, drill bits, gloves, safety glasses, and hearing protection.
  • Inspect PPE and tools for damage; remove defective items from circulation and ensure replacements are ordered promptly.
  • Keep work areas clean and organized, with tools and equipment properly stored after use.
  • Accurately document all maintenance and repair activities in Excel.
  • Collaborate with the Facility Maintenance Lead to manage records and support potential integration into SharePoint for team visibility.
  • Record observations of facility or equipment issues (e.g., bent door frames) with thorough notes for follow-up.
  • Adhere to quality standards and OSHA safety regulations, ensuring all work complies with applicable health and safety requirements.
  • Identify and address safety hazards or non-compliance issues directly or escalate them to the appropriate lead or manager.
