Financial Crime Analyst
About the Role
You will manage end-to-end customer due diligence reviews: gather documentation, verify identities, assess risk, and make audit-ready decisions. You will detect and investigate suspicious activity, review alerts, and escalate high-risk cases. You will translate regulatory requirements into operational processes, support ongoing monitoring and periodic reviews, and use blockchain analysis and OSINT to gather evidence. You will collaborate with Product, Operations, and Engineering to design scalable workflows and prepare clear artefacts for regulatory exams.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5+ years of experience in CDD, AML/CTF investigations, and Sanctions Screening
- Practical experience in financial and economic crime sanctions compliance within EU and global jurisdictions
- Experience in law enforcement, banking, PSP, crypto, or fintech environments preferred
- Strong risk assessment and attention to detail
- Pragmatic, product-aware approach balancing compliance with operational efficiency
- Fluency in Italian and English
- Comfortable working cross-functionally and engaging with leadership, reporting to the Money Laundering Reporting Officer
Responsibilities
- Manage and coordinate end-to-end CDD reviews
- Gather and verify identity documentation and assess customer risk
- Translate regulatory requirements into operational processes and controls
- Drive high-quality CDD decisions and document rationales for approvals or rejections
- Support ongoing monitoring and periodic reviews and trigger EDD where required
- Detect, investigate, and report suspicious activity including ML/TF predicate offenses
- Review system-generated alerts, research cases, and escalate appropriately
- Use blockchain analysis tools and OSINT techniques to gather evidence
- Collaborate with Product, Operations, and Engineering to design automation-ready workflows
- Assist in regulatory exam preparation and produce audit-ready artefacts
- Prioritise high-impact cases and maintain rigorous documentation
