Financial Crime Team Leader (APAC)
About the Role
You will lead and supervise a team of financial crime analysts across the APAC region. You will set objectives, allocate work and manage priorities and deadlines. You will participate in and support complex AML, CFT and fraud investigations across fiat and crypto products, apply and oversee fraud rules and monitoring thresholds, review and approve STRs, oversee AML monitoring including EDD, source of funds and source of wealth assessments, support transaction monitoring system enhancements, contribute to training materials, identify and remediate process gaps, analyse STR data and produce management information, address team feedback and support projects and regulatory initiatives.
Requirements
- Proven experience in FinTech, payments, or digital assets environments, ideally with exposure to both fiat and crypto products
- Strong experience in financial crime, AML/CFT and fraud investigations including STR reporting
- Previous people leadership experience including coaching, performance management and workload oversight
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Highly organised, resilient and able to work to deadlines in a fast-paced regulated environment
- Solid KYC and customer due diligence background including EDD and complex case handling
- Professional certification such as CAMS or ICA desirable
- Familiarity with APAC regulatory expectations (for example Malaysia, Singapore, Australia) is advantageous
Responsibilities
- Create and sustain a positive, inclusive, high-performing team environment with open communication and clear expectations

- Participate in and support complex AML, CFT, and fraud investigations across fiat and crypto products
- Apply and oversee fraud rules, monitoring thresholds, and investigative tools in line with approved frameworks
- Review, challenge, and approve STRs prior to escalation, ensuring regulatory quality and consistency
- Oversee AML monitoring activities including EDD, source of funds and source of wealth assessments
- Support transaction testing, data validation and enhancement of transaction monitoring systems, scenarios and controls
- Review and contribute to compliance and financial crime training materials
- Identify process gaps and implement remediation and process improvements
- Analyse STR data to identify emerging trends and risks and present insights to stakeholders
- Produce regular management information on volumes, trends, backlogs and resourcing needs
- Address team feedback, resolve conflicts and escalate issues where appropriate
- Support projects, regulatory initiatives and ad hoc requests
