Forward Deployed Data Engineer (TS/SCI)
About the Role
You will work directly with government customers to design, deploy, and maintain secure, scalable cloud data solutions on AWS. You will build and optimize production ETL/ELT pipelines, containerize and deploy services to Kubernetes, implement infrastructure-as-code, and integrate diverse data sources. You will instrument observability, respond to production incidents with customers, and ensure solutions meet regulatory security controls.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science Engineering or related field
- 4+ years building and deploying data pipelines in Python
- Proven experience with Apache Airflow including DAG development and scheduler tuning
- Strong knowledge of Apache Spark including Spark SQL DataFrames and performance tuning
- Advanced SQL skills including window functions and CTE optimization
- Professional experience deploying cloud-native architectures on AWS including S3 EMR EKS IAM and Redshift
- Experience with secure cloud environments and implementing FedRAMP or FISMA controls
- Experience deploying applications and data workflows on Kubernetes preferably EKS
- Infrastructure-as-Code proficiency with Terraform or CloudFormation
- Familiarity with GitOps and CI/CD practices using Jenkins GitLab CI or similar
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Willingness and ability to travel up to 25% to client sites
- Active TS/SCI clearance required Polygraph strongly preferred
Responsibilities
- Partner with customers to design and deploy secure scalable data lakehouse solutions on AWS
- Build and deliver production-ready ETL and ELT pipelines using Python Airflow Spark and SQL
- Containerize and deploy services on Kubernetes using EKS
- Implement Infrastructure-as-Code with Terraform or CloudFormation to create repeatable environments
- Design and implement data integrations from message buses APIs and relational databases
- Implement observability solutions and monitor SLAs using Prometheus Datadog or NewRelic
- Support mission-critical production systems and resolve incidents with customer operations
- Participate in all phases of the software development lifecycle including requirements testing and secure deployment
- Apply FedRAMP and FISMA controls to secure cloud deployments
