Forward-Deployed Engineer
About the Role
You will act as the technical bridge between an exchange and institutional counterparties. You will own integrations that connect FCMs, liquidity providers, and ISVs to regulated systems, taking partners from sandbox to production. You will benchmark and tune order routing and latency, develop automated certification suites, provide Tier-2/3 technical support, write integration documentation and runbooks, and work with Compliance and InfoSec to meet access and data-handling requirements.
Requirements
- 5-8 years as a software engineer or integration engineer in trading, exchange, or financial-infrastructure environments
- Proficient in Python, Go, or Java
- Able to debug network protocols and APIs
- Deep familiarity with FIX, REST, and WebSocket protocols
- Experience supporting institutional clients or market makers in production environments
- Clear communication skills able to translate between engineering and business language
- Comfortable with external-facing technical work and responsibility for partner success
- Knowledge of CFTC or SEC access and security requirements is a plus
Responsibilities
- Build, test, and deploy FIX, REST, and WebSocket integrations for institutional participants
- Guide partner engineers at FCMs, LPs, and ISVs through certification and onboarding
- Benchmark and tune order routing, latency, and throughput between client systems and APIs
- Develop automated certification suites for connectivity and data-feed validation
- Provide Tier-2 and Tier-3 technical support and troubleshoot API, network, and clearing workflow issues
- Write and maintain developer guides, integration documentation, and runbooks
- Capture partner feedback and communicate it to product and engineering stakeholders
- Collaborate with Compliance and InfoSec to ensure integrations meet access control and data-handling standards
