Forward Deployed Engineer (TS/SCI)
About the Role
You will build, deploy, and iterate operational systems in real-world government environments, often with incomplete information and evolving requirements. You will gather requirements, design architectures, implement and test features, deploy to production, and provide ongoing support. You will work across the stack—writing backend code, tuning models, configuring cloud infrastructure, and debugging data pipelines—while communicating clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders and resolving high-priority issues rapidly. You must hold an active TS/SCI clearance.
Requirements
- Background in cloud infrastructure, DevOps, or platform engineering
- Proficiency with Python
- Experience with Kubernetes, ArgoCD, Terraform, and AWS
- Strong fundamentals in software engineering and proficiency in at least one programming language
- Ability to learn new technologies rapidly (cloud platforms, AI/ML, distributed systems, data processing frameworks, full-stack frameworks)
- Demonstrated high ownership and ability to deliver outcomes in ambiguous or constrained environments
- Strong communication skills with technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Comfort working across the stack including backend development, ML model tuning, cloud infrastructure configuration, and data pipeline debugging
- Active TS/SCI clearance
Responsibilities
- Deliver mission outcomes by developing and deploying greenfield technical solutions from prototype to production
- Learn and apply new technologies rapidly, including AI and ML tools, data pipelines, full-stack frameworks, and cloud platforms
- Serve as a technical partner to mission stakeholders and translate ambiguous needs into actionable engineering work
- Own end-to-end delivery including requirements gathering, architecture, implementation, testing, deployment, and production support
- Remove blockers, simplify complexity, and drive solutions forward with urgency
- Capture ground-truth feedback from operators and incorporate it into product and engineering practices
- Resolve critical onsite issues rapidly and coordinate virtual war rooms when necessary
- Build new solutions from first principles when existing playbooks do not apply
- Conduct investigations that trace illicit activity and support operational disruption efforts
