Head of Compliance / BSA Officer

About the Role

You will build, lead, and mature the enterprise-wide AML/BSA and sanctions compliance program. You will design, implement, and continuously improve compliance infrastructure across blockchain rails, fiat rails, and developer-facing financial APIs. You will oversee daily AML operations including transaction monitoring, blockchain analytics reviews, case investigations, SAR/STR filings, OFAC screening, and high-risk customer escalations. You will manage and refine policies, procedures, and controls and supervise third-party compliance partners, tools, and vendors. You will partner with product, engineering, and operations to embed compliance-by-design, advise on compliance implications for new business models and product launches, deliver compliance reporting to leadership and the Board, monitor evolving regulations and industry standards, and collaborate on licensing, regulatory filings, and interactions with supervisory agencies.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of AML/BSA compliance experience with program ownership
  • Prior service as a BSA Officer or deputy BSA Officer for a Money Transmitter or MSB or senior AML program ownership
  • Deep knowledge of FinCEN regulations and OFAC requirements
  • Familiarity with global AML frameworks including FATF and EU AMLD
  • Experience with blockchain analytics tools such as Chainalysis, TRM Labs, or Elliptic
  • Strong understanding of onchain transaction behavior
  • Experience developing scalable AML programs for high-growth companies
  • Strong communication skills and sound judgment in high-ambiguity environments

Responsibilities

  • Develop and enhance AML/BSA, KYC, KYB, EDD, and sanctions compliance programs
  • Serve as primary point of contact for regulators, banking partners, auditors, and external compliance stakeholders
  • Own enterprise compliance risk assessment and evaluate emerging risks across Web3 and fiat flows
  • Oversee daily AML operations including transaction monitoring, blockchain analytics reviews, case investigations, SAR/STR filings, and OFAC screening
  • Manage and refine policies, procedures, and controls to meet regulatory requirements
  • Supervise third-party compliance partners, tools, and vendors
  • Partner with product and engineering to embed compliance-by-design into features and workflows
  • Advise on compliance implications for new business models, product launches, and geographic expansions
  • Deliver compliance reporting and KPIs to senior leadership and the Board
  • Monitor evolving regulations and collaborate on licensing and regulatory filings
