Head of Fraud & Risk Data Science
About the Role
You will lead the transformation of raw risk and payments data into real-time decisions that power production systems. You will run end-to-end POCs and POVs with prospective customers, design and implement real-time ML and rules-based decisioning, build experimentation frameworks, and present measurable outcomes to stakeholders. You will hire, coach, and mentor fraud analysts and data scientists, partner with Product and Engineering to embed models into APIs and dashboards, and drive roadmap decisions for new signals and features.
Requirements
- 7+ years in fraud analytics, data science, or machine learning
- 2+ years leading technical teams that ship real-time risk solutions
- Proven record of reducing fraud losses and false positives at scale
- Strong background in applied machine learning and anomaly detection
- Experience designing and running experimentation
- Advanced SQL skills
- Familiarity with modern data infrastructure such as Kafka, Flink, feature stores, and vector databases
- Experience owning and delivering POC/POV workstreams with measurable customer outcomes
- Experience processing high-volume payments or transaction streams
Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end POCs and POVs with prospective customers
- Build, optimize, and scale real-time decision systems combining models, features, and rules
- Hire, coach, and mentor a team of fraud analysts and data scientists
- Implement experimentation frameworks including A/B tests and bandit models
- Partner with Product, Engineering, and Commercial teams to embed insights into dashboards and APIs
- Present findings and strategies to customers, executives, and external stakeholders
- Drive roadmap thinking on new signals, feature builds, and feedback loops
