Head of Hackathon Programs
About the Role
You will own the global hackathon program and deliver virtual, in-person, and partner-led activations that feed the builder journey. You will design themes and program structures, coordinate mentors and judges, manage prizes and logistics, and turn hackathon outputs into reusable learning artifacts and follow-on opportunities.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in developer relations, program management, or community operations
- Proven track record running hackathons, accelerators, or builder programs
- Strong organizational, coordination, and communication skills
- Ability to connect events to measurable developer outcomes such as growth, retention, and activation
- Data-driven and comfortable analyzing program metrics
- Experience in blockchain and Web3 ecosystems
- Familiarity with developer education programs or university outreach
- Existing network in hackathon organizations, blockchain clubs, or developer communities
- Public speaking or community-facing content experience
- Fluency in additional human or programming languages
Responsibilities
- Own the global hackathon calendar including virtual, IRL, university, and partner-hosted programs
- Manage the full program lifecycle: theme design, structure, mentor assignments, judging, prizes, communications, and reporting
- Develop and maintain scalable frameworks, templates, and playbooks for consistency across regions
- Track and report key funnel metrics such as registrations, submissions, conversions to Build Club, and retention rates
- Build and manage the end-to-end funnel from hackathon to Academy to Build Club and grants/partnership pipeline
- Collaborate with DevRel Engineers and Developer Educator to align hackathon themes with learning content and example DApps
- Monitor project quality and coordinate with BD and Partnerships to identify projects for follow-on support
- Ensure every hackathon produces reusable developer resources such as contracts, demo UIs, test suites, and READMEs
- Curate learnings into tutorials, quests, and educational content
- Manage relationships with global partners and represent Midnight at partner and university events
- Oversee operational planning, logistics, budgets, swag, vendors, and communications
- Complete post-event tasks including reporting, surveys, and repository validation
