Head of Security
About the Role
You will lead and own the comprehensive security strategy across cybersecurity, blockchain, physical, and operational domains. You will embed security into product and engineering workflows, oversee smart contract and infrastructure protections, run incident response and crisis management, manage audits and compliance, and hire and mentor security engineers. You will manage vendors, budgets, and real-time monitoring while anticipating emerging DeFi threats and adapting protections for new products and integrations.
Requirements
- 10+ years of progressive security leadership experience including cybersecurity physical security and risk management
- Proven experience developing and implementing comprehensive security strategies including blockchain and DeFi security
- Experience with smart contract auditing cryptographic protocols and secure key management
- Strong leadership skills with experience building and mentoring engineering teams
- Expertise in incident response crisis management and threat intelligence
- Familiarity with compliance frameworks such as SOC 2 ISO 27001 GDPR and AML/KYC
- Proficiency in secure software development and infrastructure security including cloud Kubernetes and AWS
- Experience with monitoring automation and vulnerability mitigation tools
- Excellent communication skills for liaising with technical teams executives regulators and non-technical stakeholders
- Experience in budget and vendor management for security operations
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science Information Security or related field and relevant certifications such as CISSP or CISM are a plus
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a holistic security strategy encompassing cybersecurity blockchain physical and operational security
- Oversee blockchain and smart contract security including audits formal verification and secure key management
- Build and enforce a cybersecurity framework including threat detection SIEM IDS/IPS and vulnerability assessments
- Manage physical security operations including access controls surveillance travel risk assessments and site audits
- Drive compliance and regulatory alignment and prepare for audits such as SOC 2 and ISO 27001
- Establish incident response and crisis management plans and conduct simulations and drills
- Foster security training and integrate security-by-design principles across teams
- Lead hiring mentoring and scaling of the security team including Senior and Staff Security Engineers
- Implement real-time monitoring threat intelligence and security performance metrics
- Manage security budgets vendor relationships and resources
