High Voltage Physical Design Engineer
About the Role
You will act as a design application engineer and perform field implementation under managerial guidance. You will apply engineering principles to develop detailed HV substation designs, produce drawings and specifications, perform lightning and bus calculations, coordinate QA/QC reviews, generate BOMs, and travel to project sites as required.
Requirements
- BSEE or BSCE with minimum 5 years' experience, or an M.S. degree in engineering with sufficient experience, or a combination of applicable education and experience as determined by management
- Professional registration or expectation of achieving professional registration within a specified time period
- Ability to sit for long periods, occasional lifting up to 20 pounds, close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus
- Willingness to travel to project sites
Responsibilities
- Make independent engineering decisions
- Solve design problems using intuition and innovation
- Mentor and provide guidance to team members
- Carry out engineering assignments per IEC and ANSI standards
- Coordinate QA/QC design reviews and sign off procurement and construction documents
- Develop detailed design documents (general arrangements, sectional elevations, installation details, conduit and grounding layouts, foundation and steel design)
- Perform lightning, lighting, and bus calculations
- Generate equipment specifications and BOMs for procurement
- Travel to project sites as required
