Junior Network Engineer
About the Role
You will plan, automate, and manage IT network infrastructure for facility operations. You will evaluate network performance, install and configure networking equipment and wireless access points, run diagnostics, troubleshoot and repair network issues, and document cabling layouts and processes. Expect regular travel to mining sites (about 50%, up to 75% during peak times). You will implement backup and data retrieval procedures, support incident response, and collaborate with DevOps and facility operations to expand network capacity.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or information science or certification as CompTIA Microsoft or Cisco network professional
- Minimum of one year experience as a network specialist
- Experience with cabling installing networking equipment wireless access points and wireless internet connections
- Experience with incident response methodologies
- Practical understanding of network connectivity technologies protocols and security
- Excellent interpersonal written communication and collaboration skills
- CCNA certification preferred
Responsibilities
- Travel to mining operations to assist with setup configuration and troubleshooting of networking equipment
- Grow and maintain network infrastructure
- Install update and configure network devices at scale
- Run diagnostic tests and perform repairs
- Develop backup archiving and data retrieval procedures
- Enhance network security and document network processes and cabling layouts
- Keep informed of developments in network technologies and infrastructure
- Troubleshoot and resolve network problems in a time sensitive manner
- Respond to network incidents
