Legal Counsel EMEA
About the Role
You will support the EMEA Legal team by delivering strategic legal guidance to executive leadership and business stakeholders. You will draft and review contracts, advise on regulatory and compliance matters, support licence applications and engage with regulators, assist Product and Engineering to design compliant services, manage external counsel and handle cross-jurisdiction legal queries. You will also keep abreast of regulatory developments relevant to the role and share knowledge within the Legal team.
Requirements
- Qualified lawyer with 2-4 years practical experience in a law firm or in-house at financial services, market infrastructure, fintech or crypto/digital assets
- Experience obtaining and/or maintaining regulatory licences or registrations
- Experience providing evolving regulatory and governance advice in a dynamic regulatory environment
- Knowledge of Swiss, EU and/or UAE banking, financial services and/or digital assets laws and regulations
- Ability to manage transactions and projects while keeping senior leadership informed in real time
- Exceptional drafting skills and effective written and oral communication
Responsibilities
- Draft and review contracts and other legal documents
- Provide legal advice on a broad range of legal and regulatory matters for EMEA
- Support licence application processes and engage with regulators
- Advise on banking, financial services and digital assets regulation
- Assist Product and Engineering to design and roll out compliant services
- Advise business stakeholders and Compliance on EMEA legal matters
- Manage external counsel and legal spend
- Handle ad hoc cross-jurisdiction legal queries
- Monitor regulatory developments and share knowhow within the Legal team
