Legal Counsel (L2)
About the Role
You will provide primary legal support across a range of legal and regulatory matters. You will draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts and agreements, maintain contract tracking, and assist with contract management. You will identify legal risks, support mitigation strategies, and assist with regulatory filings. You will map and manage intellectual property, maintain corporate records, and support corporate governance. You will support dispute resolution, assist with external counsel management, and create legal documentation, templates, and playbooks. You will conduct legal research, stay updated on applicable laws and regulations related to technology, intellectual property, financial services, and cryptocurrency, and mentor interns when required. You will also support ad hoc legal tasks as needed.
Requirements
- 3-5 years of post qualification experience with a minimum of 2 years as a legal counsel
- Bachelor of Laws degree and CLP or admission to the Bar in a relevant jurisdiction
- Ability to quickly learn the technology and cryptocurrency industry business operations and relevant regulations
- Foundational knowledge across contracts intellectual property regulatory affairs and data privacy
- Good understanding of commercial laws and laws governing digital and SaaS products
- Self-motivated resourceful and commercially aware with an entrepreneurial mindset
- High attention to accuracy and ability to design and implement cross-functional procedures
- Ability to work independently with ownership and deliver within agreed timelines
- Strong problem solving and risk assessment skills with clear written and verbal communication
- Excellent communication and dispute resolution skills
- Integrity and ability to handle highly sensitive and private data
- Growth mindset and eagerness to learn new technologies
- Keen interest in the cryptocurrency industry
Responsibilities
- Provide primary legal support on legal and regulatory matters
- Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts partnerships licensing and vendor agreements
- Negotiate contract clauses in line with internal playbook guidance
- Maintain contract tracking and the contract management system
- Identify legal risks and support development of mitigation strategies
- Map and manage intellectual property and research global IP law
- Maintain corporate records and support corporate governance matters
- Support dispute resolution including pre-litigation negotiations and manage external counsel
- Assist with preparation and submission of regulatory filings reports and disclosures
- Develop review and maintain internal policies procedures and the code of conduct
- Conduct legal research and stay updated on laws regulations and guidelines
- Create and maintain legal documentation standard templates and playbooks
- Support legal vendor acquisition and assist with cost benefit analysis
- Mentor interns and support ad hoc legal tasks
