Member of Legal, Bank and Regulatory Counsel
About the Role
You will serve as the internal regulatory and consumer protection lawyer advising on CFPB and related consumer finance laws. You will analyze product and service impacts, lead responses to supervisory and enforcement matters, draft and update policies and training, conduct audits and risk assessments, manage regulatory investigations, and collaborate with product, engineering, operations, compliance, and commercial teams to structure agreements and resolve legal issues.
Requirements
- J.D. degree with corporate and consumer protection expertise
- 5+ years practicing law, including at least 4+ years specializing in consumer protection or retail regulatory compliance
- Deep knowledge of the FTC Act and state consumer protection laws and their application to crypto financial institutions
- Exceptional legal research, analysis, and writing skills
- Excellent communication, drafting, negotiation, and presentation skills
- Experience working closely with business and cross-functional teams to develop products and solve legal issues
- Foundational understanding of the crypto industry and applicable US and international laws
- Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects
- Ability to execute with moderate supervision and balance commercial and legal considerations
- Previous in-house legal experience at a regulated financial institution or exchange
Responsibilities
- Serve as internal expert on the CFPB and consumer financial laws
- Advise on consumer impacts of new products and services
- Draft, implement, and update policies, procedures, and training programs
- Develop and conduct tailored compliance training for stakeholders
- Manage and respond to regulatory inquiries, investigations, and enforcement actions
- Conduct internal legal audits and risk assessments and develop corrective action plans
- Lead contract development and negotiate complex agreements
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and resolve legal issues
- Prioritize work and share legal knowledge across teams
