About the Role
You will serve as the primary regulatory licensing attorney for CFTC and NFA matters. You will lead end-to-end licensing and registration projects, draft and negotiate ISDA/CSA and margin lending agreements, advise on derivatives and OTC product structures, monitor regulatory developments, prepare responses to examinations and audits, and partner with Trading, Operations, Risk, and Engineering to embed compliance into products and workflows.
Requirements
- J.D. degree with a focus on financial services commodities or corporate law
- 4+ years of experience practicing law with at least 3+ years focused on CFTC and NFA matters
- Deep knowledge of the Commodity Exchange Act and the Dodd-Frank Act Title VII
- Technical proficiency in derivatives including OTC products margin lending and legal lifecycle of futures and swaps
- Experience drafting negotiating and handling ISDA CSA documentation and clearing agreements
- Demonstrated experience working closely with Trading Engineering and Risk teams
- Experience managing complex licensing applications and regulatory audits
- Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple complex matters simultaneously
- Previous in-house legal experience at a fintech hedge fund major financial institution or top-tier law firm regulatory practice
- Familiarity with electronic trading platforms central clearing and collateral management
Responsibilities
- Serve as primary legal expert on the Commodity Exchange Act and NFA rules
- Lead strategy for obtaining and maintaining CFTC and NFA regulatory licenses
- Manage the registration lifecycle and licensing applications
- Draft review and negotiate margin lending agreements with institutional counterparties
- Draft review and negotiate ISDA CSA and other regulatory disclosure documents
- Advise on derivatives trading OTC products and regulatory treatment
- Partner with Trading Operations Risk and Engineering to embed compliance into workflows
- Monitor interpretive notices and regulatory shifts and advise leadership
- Lead legal responses to regulatory inquiries and NFA examinations
- Manage document production and strategic communication with regulators
- Develop rules-to-workflow frameworks to mitigate regulatory risk
