Member of Legal Corporate & Commercial Counsel

About the Role

You will counsel the business on data privacy and security matters, analyze products and services for privacy risks, and design privacy-critical features. You will build and maintain a company-wide privacy and governance program, conduct DPIAs and PIAs, and draft and negotiate privacy-related contracts. You will manage individual rights requests, lead the legal response to security incidents, deliver privacy training, monitor global privacy laws, and work cross-functionally with product, engineering, information security, compliance, HR, and marketing to embed privacy into product development and operations.

Requirements

  • J.D. degree with corporate and commercial privacy experience
  • Privacy certification such as CIPP or CIPM (optional but preferred)
  • 4+ years practicing law with at least 3+ years focused on data privacy and security
  • Deep knowledge and practical experience with major privacy frameworks such as GDPR and CCPA/CPRA
  • Excellent communication, drafting, negotiation, and presentation skills
  • Experience working cross-functionally with product, engineering, and business teams
  • Foundational understanding of the crypto industry and applicable international laws and regulations
  • Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects
  • Ability to execute with moderate supervision and balance commercial and legal realities
  • Previous in-house legal experience at a technology company, multinational, or regulated industry
  • Familiarity with cloud computing, data analytics, ad-tech, and biometrics

Responsibilities

  • Advise on data privacy and security compliance, including GDPR and CCPA/CPRA
  • Design, implement, and maintain a company-wide data privacy and governance program
  • Conduct Data Protection Impact Assessments and Privacy Impact Assessments
  • Draft, review, and negotiate privacy-related contract terms such as DPAs and SCCs
  • Oversee management of individual rights and consumer privacy requests
  • Lead legal response to data security incidents and breaches and manage external counsel
  • Provide privacy guidance to product, engineering, and marketing for privacy-by-design
  • Develop and deliver privacy and security training and awareness programs
  • Monitor global privacy laws and advise on required adjustments
