Member of Technical Staff, Direct Custody (Backend Engineer)
About the Role
You will build and maintain backend systems that enable secure custody, transfer, and interaction with digital assets. You will design abstractions that work across multiple blockchain networks, implement features such as staking governance and vesting, and integrate smart contract interactions. You will author and review code, improve test infrastructure, ensure service resilience, and ship production systems that operate reliably at scale. You will collaborate cross-functionally, influence architecture decisions, and help improve operational and security practices.
Requirements
- Real world experience building complex distributed systems
- Proficiency or experience with Go preferred (language flexibility accepted)
- Experience building resilient, production grade services
- Strong emphasis on code quality and test infrastructure
- Knowledge of concurrency algorithms and data structures
- Comfort debugging across the stack and in open source projects
- Familiarity with blockchain concepts and asset custody
- Applied cryptography knowledge (bonus)
- Background in finance (bonus)
- Formal CS degree not required
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain secure custodial backend services

- Manage transfers and lifecycle of coins and NFTs
- Write and maintain deterministic tests and test infrastructure
- Review code and contribute across the codebase
- Ensure service resilience and minimize manual intervention
- Investigate and root cause production issues including open source components
- Collaborate cross-functionally and influence architecture
