Network Architect I, II

About the Role

You will design, document, and implement network infrastructure and services across national sites. You will create detailed network designs, methods of procedure, and configurations for switching, routing, MPLS, and VPN technologies. You will troubleshoot lab and production networks, assess new technologies, and produce project scope, diagrams, and implementation documentation. You will collaborate with project managers and customers to drive engineering initiatives to completion.

Requirements

  • Degree or diploma in Electrical, Computer, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Telecommunications, or equivalent experience
  • Thorough understanding of IP/MPLS network technologies including MPLS, VPLS, IS-IS, OSPF, BGP, and IPv6
  • Knowledge of Layer 2 protocols including STP, vPC, VLAN, and LACP
  • Experience with network security technologies including ACLs, NAT, IPsec, and SSL VPNs
  • Experience planning and deploying carrier grade IP infrastructure
  • CCNP preferred; CCNP required / CCIE preferred for senior role
  • Familiarity with network automation and tools such as Python and NETCONF/YANG
  • Troubleshooting experience in lab and production networks
  • Strong presentation, planning, and IP engineering skills
  • Excellent analytical, project management, reporting, and documentation skills
  • Up-to-date knowledge of current IP network technology trends
  • Extensive knowledge of telecommunications and related industries
  • Self-motivated and able to work effectively with cross-functional teams

Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed network designs for LAN, WAN, data center, and network security
  • Configure and validate Layer 2 switching features such as VLANs, STP, vPC, and LACP
  • Configure and validate Layer 3 routing protocols including OSPF, EIGRP, and BGP
  • Design and implement network security controls including ACLs, NATs, IPsec VPNs, and SSL VPNs
  • Design and apply QoS policies
  • Create methods of procedure (MOP) for MPLS routers, Ethernet switches, and routers
  • Participate in new product and service development and provide technical recommendations
  • Monitor and assess changes in networking technology
  • Produce project scope, drawings, configurations, and documentation to support engineering initiatives
  • Collaborate with project managers and customers on network designs and service delivery
