Protocol Engineer
About the Role
You will lead the design and implementation of Solidity smart contracts that power decentralized energy markets. You will architect EVM-based systems, manage crosschain deployments, and build secure offchain data flows and oracle integrations. You will support Python/Django backend work, design APIs, run security reviews, coordinate audits, and contribute to cryptoeconomic modeling and protocol research. Expect hands-on ownership of deployments, testing, and operational tooling, and frequent collaboration with engineering and product stakeholders to refine verification, upgrade, and reward mechanisms. This role requires in-office presence in New York City.
Requirements
- 3+ years developing and deploying Solidity smart contracts in production
- Deep familiarity with DeFi architectures such as stablecoins, lending markets, staking, or yield systems
- Experience with crosschain technologies (LayerZero, Wormhole, Axelar)
- Proven experience integrating offchain data via oracles (Chainlink, Chronicle, custom feeds)
- Understanding of EVM security, auditing practices, and gas optimization
- Comfortable writing and reviewing Python code and supporting backend engineering tasks
- Based in New York City and available to work in-office
- Passion for clean energy and decentralized systems

- Participate in DevOps, testing, and deployments
- Lead internal security reviews and coordinate audits
- Monitor exploits and enforce EVM security best practices
- Contribute to protocol incentive design and economic modeling
- Evaluate new technologies and cryptoeconomic primitives
