Senior Financial Crime Officer
About the Role
You will support the AML Lead by reviewing and resolving high‑risk and non‑standard financial crime cases, conducting KYB and enhanced due diligence, and preparing regulatory filings. You will perform quality checks on analyst work, assess complex ownership structures and suspicious transaction patterns (including crypto activity), respond to regulatory information requests, and drive process optimisation and automation to improve AML controls.
Requirements
- Minimum 4 years in first‑line AML roles or 2 years in second‑line roles involving oversight or regulatory engagement
- Proven experience filing Comunicaciones por Indicio and managing communications with SEPBLAC
- Strong experience analyzing complex corporate structures and beneficial ownership
- Solid understanding of EU and Spanish AML frameworks and financial crime typologies
- Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and professional judgment
- Ability to operate effectively in a fast‑paced, evolving environment with high ownership
Responsibilities
- Perform four‑eye checks on analyst work for screening, transaction monitoring, and investigations
- Review and resolve SNC and PEP hits requiring escalation
- Conduct KYB and enhanced due diligence on companies with complex ownership structures
- Analyze corporate structures and beneficial ownership chains across jurisdictions
- Prepare and file suspicious activity reports (Comunicaciones por Indicio) to SEPBLAC/Banco de España
- Respond to information requests and inquiries from Spanish authorities
- Oversee transaction monitoring escalations and high‑risk investigations
- Assess unusual or complex transaction patterns, including crypto activity
- Refine risk scenarios, thresholds, and escalation criteria
- Identify AML workflow gaps and drive process optimisation and automation
- Develop and update AML policies, procedures, and playbooks
