Staff Backend Engineer
About the Role
You will own and lead the design, building, and maintenance of backend services that power KYC onboarding, sanctions screening, transaction monitoring, and regulatory reporting. You will build and optimize case management and alert pipelines, develop integrations with regulatory reporting systems, translate regulatory requirements into scalable technical solutions, craft technical documentation to ensure auditability, mentor engineers, and drive high engineering standards across projects.
Requirements
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in web backend development and complex system integrations
- Proven track record delivering production services involving high-throughput data processing and real-time screening
- Proficiency in Go (Golang) is a significant advantage
- Proficient in English for both casual and formal communication
- Experience in regulated industries such as financial services, AML/KYC, or payment security is a plus
- Familiarity with SAR/STR filing processes and GoAML or similar regulatory reporting formats is a plus
- Experience with case management systems, alert workflows, and investigation tooling is a plus
Responsibilities
- Architect and implement robust backend services for KYC workflows, sanctions screening, and alert management
- Build and optimize case management and alert creation pipelines to support investigator workflows
- Develop and maintain integrations with regulatory reporting systems including SAR filing and GoAML submissions
- Translate regulatory requirements into scalable technical solutions with product and compliance stakeholders
- Develop features to improve detection accuracy, reduce false positives, and streamline investigations
- Create and maintain technical documentation to ensure auditability and support regulatory examinations
- Mentor engineers and uphold high engineering standards across the platform
