Job for Experts
Staff Quantitative Engineer — Markets & Index Design
About the Role
You will own the design, specification, implementation, launch, and post-launch iteration of perpetual markets that price onchain economic activity. You will define economic signals, specify how those signals are measured onchain, and translate them into tradable indexes. You will design deterministic onchain-derived inputs and oracle architectures that are manipulation resistant, cost-to-attack positive, and predictable for market makers. You will identify manipulation vectors and incentive misalignments and design mechanical protections and risk controls (caps, smoothing, decay, inclusion thresholds). You will set technical direction across quant research, data engineering, and launch parameters, and collaborate closely with founders, market makers, and infrastructure partners. You will produce performant production-grade Python code and work with data pipelines and SQL; you do not need to write smart contracts but must understand onchain execution and fee mechanics.
Requirements
- Strong quantitative foundation (math, physics, engineering, CS, or equivalent)
- Experience designing or owning indexes, signals, trading metrics, or financial data products
- Proficiency in Python and comfort with performant production-grade code
- Crypto-native experience (DeFi, perps, onchain data)
- Systems thinking for data models, testing, infrastructure, and reliability at scale
- Proven ability to lead ambiguous greenfield projects end to end
- Strong intuition for incentives, game theory, and adversarial systems
- Clear written thinking and ability to explain design reasoning
- Familiarity with data pipelines and SQL
- Familiarity with onchain data (EVM or non-EVM) and onchain execution mechanics
