Staff / Senior Staff Engineer, Orb Backend
About the Role
You will lead the design and implementation of systems that run inside AWS VPCs. You will create application and infrastructure components primarily in Go, work with Terraform-provisioned infrastructure and operate services using Kubernetes (EKS). You will own features from design through testing and release, participate in on-call rotation, and troubleshoot incidents to ensure performance, security, and reliability.
Requirements
- Experience with Go (Golang) or Rust
- Familiarity with microservice architectures
- Proven experience building and operating large scale distributed systems
- Expertise in AWS (S3, EC2, Route53 and related services)
- Expertise in Kubernetes and EKS
- Experience with Terraform
- Experience with MongoDB is a plus
- Ability to discuss performance, security, and user interactions in complex systems
Responsibilities
- Lead design and implementation of AWS-based systems

- Ensure performance, security, and reliability of services
- Own feature lifecycle from design through testing and release
