Technical Artist Lead
About the Role
You will lead and mentor technical artists to deliver high-quality, performant game assets. You will collaborate with art and engineering to optimize workflows, develop tools and scripts, and implement shaders and visual effects that balance quality and performance. You will prototype and troubleshoot visual features, provide technical guidance on rigging and animation, research new technologies, and document tools and processes to keep pipelines consistent and efficient.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Technical Artist in the gaming industry with at least 3+ years in a lead or senior role
- Proficiency in 3D art tools such as Maya, Blender, and 3ds Max
- Experience with game engines such as Unity or Unreal Engine
- Strong knowledge of shader development and rendering pipelines
- Experience with performance optimization for multiple platforms
- Experience with scripting/programming languages such as Python, MEL, or C# to develop tools and automate workflows
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot technical challenges
- Leadership experience mentoring and guiding technical artists

- Design and develop tools to streamline artist workflows and support multi-platform asset creation
- Optimize assets for texture, polygon, and memory budgets to meet performance goals
- Develop shaders and visual effects balancing visual quality and performance
- Provide technical guidance on asset creation, rigging, and animation to maintain pipeline integrity
- Prototype and troubleshoot visual features and integrate assets with engineering support
- Research and implement new technologies to improve the art and animation pipeline
- Document tools, workflows, and processes for consistent project alignment
