Business Development Lead Payments
About the Role
You will identify, close, and scale strategic partnerships with major payments companies to bring new onchain financial primitives to market. You will define end-to-end payments strategy, work with product, engineering, and partner teams to integrate and onboard partners, and channel market feedback to influence roadmap and offerings. You will represent the project at industry events and publish thought leadership to advance programmable money and payments infrastructure.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in enterprise sales
- Proven track record of closing and scaling complex deals with payments companies
- Deep understanding of payments infrastructure
- Familiarity with crypto infrastructure including Ethereum, Layer 2s, and wallet abstraction concepts
- Strategic thinking to map fintech value chains and craft BD theses
- Comfortable interfacing with C-level stakeholders and navigating multi-party partnerships
- Experience building 0→1 partnerships, go-to-market strategies, and partner programs
- Strong communication skills to translate between business, technical, and ecosystem stakeholders
- Ability to operate in ambiguous, fast-moving markets and iterate quickly
Responsibilities
- Own and execute payments strategy end-to-end
- Define and lead payments strategy acting like a GM
- Identify high-leverage market entry points
- Translate protocol advantages into narratives for payments decision-makers
- Source, structure, and close high-impact partnerships with payments companies
- Collaborate with product, engineering, and partner teams to ensure integration and onboarding
- Channel market feedback to influence product roadmap decisions
- Shape internal offerings such as SDKs, liquidity support, and ecosystem programs
- Represent the organization at industry events, payments conferences, and policy forums
- Publish thought leadership on programmable money and payments infrastructure
- Build and maintain relationships with wallets, stablecoin issuers, banking-as-a-service providers, and Layer 2s
